Η Διαπολιτισμική χορωδία της Εναλλακτικής σκηνής της ΕΛΣ δημιουργήθηκε τον Ιανουάριο του 2017 στο πλαίσιο των Εκπαιδευτικών και Κοινωνικών προγραμμάτων της ΕΛΣ, τα οποία πραγματοποιούνται με αποκλειστική δωρεά του Ιδρύματος Σταύρος Νιάρχος και με σκοπό να φέρει κοντά μόνιμους ή προσωρινούς κατοίκους της Αθήνας: πρόσφυγες, μετανάστες, αλλά και ημεδαπούς.
Συνδυάζοντας παραδοσιακά τραγούδια από τις χώρες προέλευσης των συμμετεχόντων με κλασικό χορωδιακό ρεπερτόριο, η διαπολιτισμική χορωδία της ΕΛΣ, έχει εξελιχθεί ένα χώρο δημιουργίας, έκφρασης και κοινωνικής δικτύωσης των συμμετεχόντων.
Τα μόνιμα μέλη της μετά από έξι μήνες συν-δημιουργίας, συμμετέχουν πολύ ενεργά στην έρευνα κι επιλογή του ρεπερτορίου της χορωδίας κι αποτελούν ένα δυνατό πυρήνα για το περαιτέρω άνοιγμα της χορωδίας σε νέα μέλη.
Το ένθερμο ενδιαφέρον των μελών για το τραγούδι και το συσχετισμό τους με ανθρώπους από διαφορετικούς πολιτισμούς οδήγησε την ομάδα στην προετοιμασία της πρώτης ανοιχτής συναυλίας που θα γίνει στην πλατεία Κυψέλης την Κυριακή 18 Ιουνίου, στις 20.00, με ελεύθερη είσοδο.
Η συναυλία συνδιοργανώνεται με το Δίκτυο Πολιτισμού του Δήμου Αθηναίων (Athens Culture Net), αποκλειστικός δωρητής του οποίου είναι το Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος. Η πρώτη συναυλία της Διαπολιτισμικής Χορωδίας, στοχεύει μεταξύ άλλων στην επικοινωνία με νέα μέλη και ακόμα περισσότερες ξένες κοινότητες προκειμένου να αναπτυχθεί και να εξερευνήσει νέους πολιτισμούς.
Η μαέστρος της Χορωδίας, Αυγερινή Γάτση, σημειώνει:
"Η Διαπολιτισμική Χορωδία της Εναλλακτικής Σκηνής της ΕΛΣ, πήρε σώμα και φωνή, μετά από τους πρώτους έξι μήνες, μέσα από μια διαδρομή αποδοχής της διαφορετικότητας. Τα μέλη της Διαπολιτισμικής Χορωδίας κατάγονται από την Ιταλία, την Ουαλία, την Παπούα Νέα Γουινέα, τη Συρία, τη Σλοβακία, την Ελλάδα, την Κύπρο, χώρες από τις οποίες προέρχεται το μουσικό ρεπερτόριο της χορωδίας και όχι μόνο. Μόνιμα και περαστικά μέλη της χορωδίας μοιράστηκαν τραγούδια και αφηγήσεις από τις χώρες και τους διαφορετικούς πολιτισμούς αυτών.
Την Κυριακή 18 Ιουνίου 2017, στις 20.00 στην Πλατεία Κυψέλης, η Διαπολιτισμική Χορωδία της Εναλλακτικής Σκηνής της ΕΛΣ θα παρουσιάσει στο κοινό τραγούδια από χώρες του κόσμου, προβάλλοντας την ομορφιά της πολυφωνίας αλλά και τον καρπό της καλλιτεχνικής αλληλεπίδρασης και συνύπαρξης των συμμετεχόντων, στην Αθήνα του σήμερα".

On Sunday the 18th of June 2017 at 8pm, the Intercultural Choir of the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera will be performing its first public concert at Kypseli Square. The Intercultural Choir was founded in January 2017 with the aim to bring together permanent and temporary citizens of the city of Athens: immigrants, refugees as well as locals.
The members of the choir are inviting you to Kypseli Square, at 8pm this coming Sunday to enjoy a diverse choral concert with traditional songs from Russia, Iran, South Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Papua New Guinea, Syria and Slovakia. Having rehearsed over the last six months the members of the choir would like to take the opportunity through this concert to express the value of accepting diversity and integration, as well as building strong communities that encourage polyphony and intercultural dialogue.
Placing at the heart of the creative process traditional songs from all cultures and countries that each member of the choir is originally from, the Intercultural Choir of GNO has been a platform of creativity, expression and social integration for its members.
It is the commitment of the members of the choir and the practice based research that they have employed when having to carefully choose and teach the repertoire to the group, that has resulted in creating a strong team open and excited to welcome even more new members starting from Autumn 2017.
The first concert of the Intercultural Choir of the Alternative Stage of GNO has free entrance and is being co-organised with the Municipality of Athens and Athens Culture Net (ACN). Through this first public concert the members of the choir are aiming to meet and discuss with people from different communities that will be amongst the audience.
A few words from the conductor of the choir, Aygerini Gatsi
The Intercultural Choir of the Alternative Stage of GNO has formed its identity, after having spent six months of regular interaction, acceptance and integration through music. The members of the choir come from Russia, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Papua New Guinea, Syria and Slovakia. It is these countries and a few more that the repertoire of the choir has derived from. Permanent and temporary members of the International Choir shared songs and stories rom their life paths, countries and cultures.
On coming Sunday, the International Choir of the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera will share with its audience music, song and stories of the world, in order to showcase the beauty of diversity, polyphony as well as the outcome of a creative project that relies on the coexistence and interaction of diverse cultures, in nowadays Athens.
